A Bit About Hollingsworth Racing
Ben Hollingsworth may have only started Hollingsworth Racing back in 2020 but he has many prior years of experience as a top groom, trainer and driver.
As a Nova Scotia native, Ben learned his early lessons at Truro Raceway under the tutelage of O'brien award winning horseman Phil Pinkney. Starting as a stall cleaner and groom in 2004 he eventually worked his way up to getting his trainers license in 2007 and drivers license in 2009. In 2015, after graduating with an Animals Science degree from Dalhousie University Ben made the move to Ontario to fulfill his dream of looking after great horses while working for top trainers.
Artspeak, Mcwicked, and Kendall Seelster are some of the millionaire horses Ben as rubbed while working for top trainers like Tony Alagna, Ben Baillargeon, Mark Steacy and Casie Coleman. While rubbing great horses was fun, the reward of meeting his own horse in the winners circle soon proved to be stronger so in 2020 Ben started Hollingsworth Stable with the goal of racing a small stable of quality horses at Woodbine Mohawk Park, Flamboro Downs and Grand River Raceway.
Being a very hands on trainer, Ben focuses on Quality over Quantity and likes to have only between eight to ten horses in his care so he can sit behind each horse daily and oversee all their care and feeding. Ben prides himself on the care and cleanliness of his horses, equipment and stable.
Some horses that have had great success in Hollingsworth Racing's shedrow include the free legged sensation Wind Blown, 1:49.4, young horse Brookdale Miki 1:51.3 and the classy race mare My Mother Pearl 1:53.3. During the busy Grand Circuit meet at Woodbine Mohawk Park trainers like Nancy Takter, Todd Luther and Diamond Creek Racing often trust Ben with their horses.
Hollingsworth Racing looks to build on its most successful year ever in 2023 with a combination of older race horses, young overnight and stake horses in 2024.
