At the most recent Standardbred Canada Board meeting in Edmonton, Alta. the Board of Directors approved a number of items.
Those items included the following:
F23 Budget – The 2023 fiscal budget was approved unanimously which includes a 3% increase to membership fees to address the near 7% inflationary increase projected by the Bank of Canada in 2022. Details of the new fees in 2023 are listed below and take effect February 1, 2023.
Enhanced Member Insurance – The Board of Directors approved enhanced Member insurance for 2023. The enhancements include reducing the waiting time for collecting insurance claims from 14 days to seven days and increasing weekly insurance payments by $40.00 per week. For the enhancements to take effect an increase of approximately $10.00 per year for insured members are included in the insurance costs, effective February 1, 2023.
F23 Strategic Plan – The Board of Directors approved the 2023 strategic plan as prepared by management and the Strategic Planning and Process committee. The plan involves 10 strategic initiatives for the year with a synopsis of the plan now posted on the SC website .
Proposed Bylaw Revisions – The Bylaws committee spent 2022 reviewing Bylaw #1 to; ensure compliance with current government legislation, promote gender neutrality, eliminate vagueness, and address general housekeeping issues overall. With Board approval, the proposed revisions of Bylaw #1 will be introduced to membership for discussion and approval prior to seeking final approval from the Federal government of the revisions.

With the approval of the Board of Directors, the proposed revisions to Bylaw #1 will be presented to the membership for discussion and approval prior to seeking final approval from the federal government.
