Winning races is something classy campaigner Nickle Bag does well, and he gave a demonstration of it Thursday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Generally known as a Saturday night specialist, Nickle Bag proved he can win on just about any night of the week when things go his way.

They did just that when he got some class relief to work with Thursday evening at the Campbellville oval. Trevor Henry rolled the 10-year-old son of Rocknroll Hanover-Buckle Bunni to the front and after parking past the opening quarter in :27 he muscled to the front and carved out middle splits of :55.3 and 1:24. A :28.3 closing panel was enough to earn the gelding the win by 2-3/4 lengths over Dreamy Fella in 1:52.3. D Gs De Vito was third.

Sent off as the 4-5 favourite for trainer Julie Robinson, Nickle Bag improved his 2020 record to 6-3-1 from 32 starts with the win. The 53-time winner added to his $1.2 million bankroll.
