Officials with The Raceway at Western Fair District and Woodbine Mohawk Park have announced that each of the tracks have been forced to cancel their scheduled programs of live racing for this evening (Monday, Feb. 4) due to unseasonably warm winter conditions that have caused unsafe track conditions.
The Raceway at Western Fair District has been forced to cancel its live racing program which was scheduled for this evening (Monday, Feb. 4) due to deteriorating track conditions caused by unseasonably warm temperatures. The thawing conditions are a result sunshine and temperature of plus-10 degrees Celsius while coming on the heels of a deep freeze which gripped Ontario last week. Additionally, the track at Western Fair will be closed for training on Tuesday morning (Feb. 5). Live racing at the London, Ont. oval is scheduled again for Tuesday night at 6:15 p.m. Officials with Western Fair have announced that they will monitor the track overnight and into Tuesday and will update the status of the program at that time.
Woodbine Mohawk Park has cancelled its scheduled Monday, Feb. 4 live card due to the unseasonably warm conditions and the negative effects they have had on the track. The next scheduled program of live racing at Mohawk is slated for Thursday (Feb. 7). First-race post time is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
Officials with Rideau Carleton Raceway have announced that the track will be closed for training all day Monday (Feb. 4). Rideau’s 2019 meet is scheduled to begin Sunday (Feb. 10).
