Vaccination Policy for all Horse People

In News by COSA

Please be advised that in one week, you’ll need to have completed your rapid test at home and uploaded it to the online portal, with a negative result, before entering Woodbine Mohawk Park.

As part of Woodbine Entertainment’s commitment in operating safely during the pandemic, as of December 13 all horse racing participants must provide either proof of full vaccinations OR participate in the Enhanced Screening Program (ESP) with rapid testing to be done at your home prior accessing Woodbine Mohawk Park (WMP).

Here’s what you’ll need to know

  • All racing participants enrolled in ESP must perform the daily rapid test at home and then upload their results to an online portal whenever you require access to the paddock and racing areas at WMP.
  • If you require to be on site daily, you must either show proof of full (double) vaccination or test daily as part of the ESP; you must test at home prior to accessing WMP every time.
  • Woodbine Entertainment will provide you with rapid testing kits (package of 25) at no cost to the individual (PLEASE NOTE: This is subject to change).
  • You’ll need to order your screening kits by clicking on this link: https://forms.office.com/r/tN8Y2Nzggg
  • Once you have ordered your kits for the first time, you will receive an email with your account information to log in to report your results. The email will contain the link for the Report Form.
  • You can pick up your screening kits at the WMP Paddock Security Office during race nights. It is located in the new section where the horses unload and check in with Security.
  • You must have a Woodbine Photo ID Badge to receive your kits. If you do not have a badge, you can have one made when you pick up your kits.

  • Please re-order your screening kits when you are down to only 5 screening kits left.

What do the results mean?

  • If you test positive for COVID-19 through the rapid test, you will not be permitted on-site. Do not use the screens if you have any Covid-19 symptoms. If you have any symptoms, please get a PCR test and follow all WEG related policies regarding COVID-19.
  • If you test negative for COVID-19 through the rapid test, you will upload your results to online portal and then check in with WMP Security upon arrival and before entering the Paddock Gate.

What if I need help?

To help with this transition, onsite clinics with paramedics will continue to remain open during the week of December 13, to provide onsite support and instruction for the “at home” Enhanced Screening Program.

We also encourage people to also ask a friend or colleague for help.

How long will the Vaccine Policy be in place?

WEG continues to strongly encourage all racing participants to get full vaccinated for their personal safety and the safety of others. Please know this is a challenging mandatory process but unfortunately, it is one that we deem necessary for the safety of all. This program will remain in place until otherwise notified.

Please be advised that Woodbine Entertainment will consider all options when reviewing our protocols in the future, including the requirement that full vaccination may be a condition for access to all Woodbine properties.

What if I opted out of ESP?

Security will provide a sticker for horse people that have opted out the ESP, and submitted proof of full (double) vaccination, to show the guard at the Stable Gate. You will need to sign a consent form for Security to enter their information on the database.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
