‘Jimmy’ Captures London Preferred

In News by COSA

Mr Mach Jimmy survived a first-over trip and captured the $8,500 Preferred 3 for horse and gelding pacers for the tandem of driver Colin Kelly and trainer Lindsey Kerr.

Kelly got away third with the seven-year-old son while Supersport shot to the front and served up an opening quarter clocked in :29. Supersport was still in charge through middle panels of :58.4 and 1:28.2, but Mr Mach Jimmy was off the rail and applying first-over pressure. Mr Mach Jimmy then used a :30.2 closing panel to prevail by a half-length margin over Supersport in 1:59. Saulsbrook Peach took home the show dough.

Sent off as the 5-2 second choice in the wagering, Mr Mach Jimmy won for the 18th time in his career while adding to his bankroll which recently surpassed $200,000. He is owned by Sally Charlton of Tecumseh, Ont.
