COVID-19 Enhancement

RWAM and our travel insurance provider, Allianz Global Assistance, are committed to providing support during this unprecedented time. We recognize that people are looking to travel for different reasons. We remain committed to helping protect their health and safety by ensuring our Plan Members have access to coverage for emergency medical, quarantine and other costs related to COVID-19 while abroad.

RWAM upgraded our Out-of-Country product in July 2020 to include coverage for COVID-19 emergency care while travelling. We are pleased to announce an additional enhancement that responds to travellers’ needs for coverage of quarantine-related expenses. RWAM’s Out-of-Country product now provides coverage if an insured is individually required to quarantine while on their trip. In the event that quarantine is required and hospitalization is not needed, this superior coverage provides peace of mind and financial support when you cannot travel back home. Effective immediately, Allianz is extending their coverage, irrespective of vaccination status.

If an insured tests positive with COVID-19 while on a trip and are required to quarantine, the Out-of- Canada coverage will cover reasonable and customary meals, accommodation, and transportation costs to an overall maximum of $2,500 (per trip occurrence NOT per person) which consists of the following:

  • Accommodation and meals have a maximum day limit of $150 for up to 14 days
  • Transportation costs may include:
    • Economy costs to get covered person home after quarantine
    • Economy costs to get 1 travelling companion home if their plans had to change due to quarantine.

This enhancement will be in place until December 31, 2021 and if extended, a notification will be provided.

Due to the evolving nature of COVID-19, we encourage all Canadians to adhere to Government of Canada advisories and guidelines when travelling.
